RF Code announced today the release of the new M174 active tag, which is much smaller than its predecessor.
My customers love the automation of active RFID as it completely removes the human factor. However, the tag size has been an issue. The RF Code tags are smaller than most, but they do still stick out in front of your data center assets, which isn’t a deal breaker, but not exactly ideal either.
From the RF Code press release:
“The M174 is about 40% smaller than our current IT asset tag, but still contains all the functionality of the larger tags including a five-year battery life and the same read range but now in a much smaller package,” said Chris Gaskins, vice president of product development at RF Code.
Designed for rack-mounted assets, the M174 integrates new advanced features including: IR sensor with four receivers for clear signal reception from any direction; superior anti-collision technology for high tag density environments; and replaceable tabs allowing easy installation using flag, loop, or thumb-screw tabs.
I’m excited to get my hands on this little guy. Good work, RF Code, for getting your tags smaller and smaller. Keep it up.
